Stories That Look Like Our Lives

For children of the Tamil diaspora, growing up in Canada means living beautifully between two worlds. But when we look for children's books to pass down our language, the stories rarely look like our actual lives. They are often set in places our children have never been, making the culture feel distant or disconnected from their reality.

That is why our mission is to normalize the Tamil diaspora experience for the next generation through interactive stories that reflect their everyday lives, making their heritage feel relatable, relevant, and deeply connected to their home in Canada.

I created Avira Interactive to change that.

We created Avira Interactive to change that.

Named after the founder’s niece, Avira, this platform is built on a simple idea: children connect with what they recognize. We wanted to create stories that ground the Tamil language in everyday Canadian life. It’s about normalizing their experience and showing them that the traditions they practice at home belong perfectly alongside their life here.

By pairing modern, interactive technology with relatable narratives, we aren't just teaching kids how to say the names of fruits and vegetables. We are giving them a reflection of themselves, proving that their unique experience as a Tamil-Canadian is entirely normal, celebrated, and worth reading about.

"Our vision is a future where children of the diaspora see their exact, beautifully blended world reflected in the stories they read."
